Catholic High of Pointe Coupee built a 41-0 halftime lead enroute to a 69-5 win over Louisiana School for the Deaf in the season opener.

Allie Moreau sank 6 of 7 field goal attempts for 12 points to go with 8 rebounds and 2 blocks.

Isabel Guerin also had 12 points, 7 steals, 4 assist and 3 rebounds.

Jenna LaCour and Kaylin Jarreau scored 9 points each, while Ashlyn Landry had 8 points and 9 rebounds.

Catholic-PC was scheduled to travel to Northlake Christian on Tuesday, Nov. 23, then go on the road on Tuesday, Nov. 30, to face Livona.

Next week’s schedule also includes a home game with Maurepas on Thursday, Dec. 2, and a road trip to Collegiate-Baton Rouge on Dec. 3.

Meanwhile, Livonia dropped it’s the first two games of the season.

Woodlawn topped Livonia 42- 31. Deoni Richardson had 12 points and Akiyah Carnes had 10 points to lead Livonia.

Capitol also topped Livonia 64-56.

The Wildcats were scheduled to host Baker on Tuesday, Nov. 23, and Catholic-PC on Tuesday, Nov. 30.  That will take place in the St. John Tournament on Thursday, Dec. 2.

False River also dropped two games in the Family Christian Tournament to open the season.

Family Christian beat False River 74-12 and Maurepas stopped False River 47-24.

The Gators were scheduled to go on the road to Buckeye for a contest on Tuesday, Nov. 23, then host Ascension Christian on Wednesday, Dec. 1. They also go on the road to play St. Joseph-Plaucheville on Friday, Dec. 3.

Boys basketball

St. Michael topped Livonia 55-45 on Monday, Nov. 22 in the Dunham Tournament, to snap the Wildcats’ two-game win streak.

Livonia opened the season with a 54-50 win over Tara. The Wildcats beat Morris Jeff 48-28 in the Dunham Tournament.

The Wildcats will host the season-opener for Catholic-PC on Tuesday, Nov. 30, then host Plaquemine on Friday, Dec. 2.

Catholic-PC will host Maurepas on Thursday, Dec. 2, then travel to Covington to face Christ Episcopal on Friday, Dec. 3.

False River was scheduled to travel to Brusly on Tuesday, Nov. 23, then go on the road again Monday, Nov. 29, to play Westminster.

Next week’s slate also includes a home game with Ascension Christian on Thursday, Dec. 1, and a road trip to St. Joseph-Plaucheville on Friday, Dec. 3.
