Louvenia (Lou) Bueche Ballard, 91, a native of Jarreau, Louisiana, and a resident of Baton Rouge, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 28, 2020. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. She enjoyed spending time with her family. Louvenia was a graduate of Rougon High School (1946); and as a high school senior, she was one of 10 finalists for State Queen for Future Farmers of America. She worked at the State Highway Department for several years, employee of Sears for 14 years, and a homemaker. Louvenia was a parishioner of St. Gerard Catholic Church, St. Louis Catholic Church and currently a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church. She was a member of the Ladies Altar Society, Catholic Daughters, KC Auxiliary, Charismatic Renewal, and a Eucharistic Minister. She also attended Cursillo and Our Lady of the Oaks Retreats. Louvenia is survived by her loving husband Joseph Curley Ballard, which they were married for 73 years. They had four children: Catherine Sue Ballard preceded in death, Thomas C. Ballard and wife Donna, Carla Ballard Kusch and husband Deacon Robert Joseph Kusch, and David Brian Ballard and wife Connie; six grandchildren: Thomas Micah Ballard and wife Sunnylyn, Katherine Ann Ballard Foret and husband Benjamin, Laura Kathleen Ballard Pickett preceded in death, Rachelle Maria Kusch Stauss and husband David, Rebecca Katherine Kusch and Robert Joseph Kusch II; seven great-grandchildren: Lorca Manale Ballard, Adalee Katherine and Smith King Pickett, Gianna Kathleen and Josephine Kate Foret, and David Rudolph and Maria Josephine Stauss; and numerous nieces and nephews. Louvenia was preceded in death by her parents, Eribert and Felicia Bueche; sisters, Alice Bueche Major, Lulie Bueche Aguillard; brothers, Sanders, Dennis, Walter, Guy, Winnick, Eribert Jr., Willie and Reed Bueche. On Thursday, December 31 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Lakeland, a Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated by Rev. Todd Lloyd and Rev. Michael Moroney assisted by Deacon Robert Kusch at 11 a.m. Burial followed at Chenal Cemetery. Pallbearers were Thomas C. Ballard, Thomas Micah Ballard, Robert Joseph Kusch II, James Aguillard, Walter Bueche Jr., Benjamin Christopher Foret; Honorary Pallbearers: David Brian Ballard, Sammy Major, Glenn Elam, and David Rudolph Stauss. The family would like to thank her caretakers, Bridgette Barker and Barbara Bradford, for their loving care. Special thanks to the staff at Audubon Hospice, especially Kati Theriot.
