Mary Berkesch a resident of Marrero, La. passed away at her home on July 27, 2020 at the age of 78. Mary was a retired registered nurse at Charity Hospital in New Orleans. She enjoyed being a homemaker and also enjoyed staying home and being a gracious and loving caregiver to her children and grandchildren. Mary is survived by her husband of 55 years, Joseph S. Berkesch; sons Todd V. Berkesch (Lisa), Curtis M. Berkesch (Trina); grandsons Cyle M. Berkesch, Travis V. Berkesch and Baby B. Berkesch; Wanda Clark (James) (mother and stepfather of Travis and Rebecca); granddaughters Rebecca B. Gregoire (Daniel), Amber Sawyer (Peyton), Alyssa Prejean; 2 sisters, Madeline Denson and Margaret (Cline) Hooper; 4 brothers, Melvin Landry, Elden (Debbie) Landry, Glenn (Marsha) Landry, Donnie (Lynn) Landry; Aunt and Uncle Nora and S.J. Serio; sister Toni Callais (Phillip); brother Chris Berkesch (Mary); a host of nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her parents Eddie and Elda Landry; sisters Marilyn Babin (Morris), Rebecca Landry; brother-in-law George Denson; nephew, Chris Jarreau. A visitation will be held at Niland’s Funeral Service in New Roads, La on Friday; July 31, 2020 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. The Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Ann’s Catholic Church cemetery in Morganza at 12:00 noon and will be conducted by Rev. Todd Lloyd. The burial will follow in the church cemetery.
