Karen Louise Derozan Terrance was born September 16, 1962 to Edward Derozan Sr. and Bertha VanBuren Derozan. Karen was friendly and always had a smile on her face. She made family and friends laugh with her mottos, “Ain’t Nothing Short about me, but I’m Short”, and “Ya See me huh, I WALK HARD”. She was baptized at Morning Star Baptist Church by Rev. I.W. Walker at an early age. Karen is an alumna member of Rosenwald High school and attended Jumonville and received a Certificate of Nursing Assistant. She was employed over 30 plus years as a Certified Nursing Assistant. She worked as a private sitter, Lakeview Nursing Home, and Pointe Coupee Nursing Home. Karen leaves to cherish in loving memories her husband Darryl Terrance; three daughters Seteria (Joseph) Cotton Jr. of Glenn, La, LaTonya (Marshall) Dickerson Jr., of Brusly, La, Daryl Tanae (Karlan) Harrison of New Roads, La; three grandchildren, Jomyrae, Joseph III, and Victoria Cotton; thirteen siblings, Barbara Derozan, Margret Williams, Shelia (Jesse) Garrett, Janice Derozan, Valerie VanBuren, and Adrian VanBuren, all of New Roads, La; brothers, Elvin Gwendlyn) Derozan, Edward Derozan Jr., Joseph (Charlene) Derozan, Kenneth (Sandra) Derozan, all of New Roads, La, Hubert VanBuren Sr., of Zachary, La, Isiaiah VanBuren, and Bruce VanBuren, of New Roads, La; two sister in laws, Glenda Smullen, and Sharon (Ron) Farlow; one brother in law, Sylvester (Mercie) Hawkins; one aunt Elizabeth Clay, and host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. A Celebration of Life will be held for Karen on Saturday, July 24, 2021 at Sixth Ward Baptist Church 9106 Pointe Coupee Rd., New Roads, La 70760. Officiating Minister will be Rev. Jerome Bridgewater.
