A ceremony at the STEM Magnet Academy provided the Class of 2002 time for breakfast, fellowship and reflection in a relaxed atmosphere on the anniversary of one of the darkest days in American history.

The event, billed as “Senior Sunrise,” brought together the senior class to observe the 6:30 a.m. sunrise on Wednesday, Sept. 11, the 18th anniversary of the attacks in New York and Washington D.C.

Student representatives from both Livonia and STEM led the seniors in a variety of inspirational messages, greetings and a solemn tribute to the victims of the Sept. 11th attacks.

Camila Carrera, Class of 2016 Valedictorian, gave a very motivating speech to the students and challenged them to make the most of every opportunity they are offered.

Students engaged in group activities, icebreakers and also found a way to voice their excitement – along with some of their concerns – as they prepare to enter the “adult world” after graduation.
