Catholic High of Pointe Coupee’s Claire Rivet puts up a jump shot against Opelousas Catholic on Jan. 28.

  Breaux Bridge took over second place in District 6-4A from Livonia with a 59-26 win on Tuesday, Feb. 4.  

Livonia is 2-2 in district for third place and 10-14 overall. Breaux Bridge is alone in second place (3-1, 15-8).  Atop the 6-4A standings is Opelousas (4-0, 17-8).

  St. Thomas More of Lafayette beat Cecilia 61-49 on Feb. 4 in a non-district contest.

  Meanwhile, Catholic High of Pointe Coupee saw its 5-1A record fall to 1-3 with a loss to first-place North Central (4-0, 21-6) on Tuesday, Feb. 4.

  The Hornets are 12-11 overall. They dropped a pair of district games last week to Opelousas Catholic, 82-44, and Westminster, 68-54.

  The Hornets also had a non-district game against St. Joseph-Plaucheville (5-C) on Wednesday, Feb. 5. They return to 5-1A play on Friday, Feb. 7, by hosting St. Edmund.

Girls teams

  Catholic High of Pointe Coupee is still looking for its first district win, after falling 85-15 to first-place North Central on Tuesday, Feb. 4.

  Sophomores Renee Havenar scored 6 points and Kaylin Jarreau had 5 points for Catholic-PC.

  The Lady Hornets are 0-4, 15-11. North Central is 4-0, 17-7, with one 5-1A game left.

  Catholic-PC lost district games last week to Westminster, 50-38, and Opelousas Catholic, 50-21. Against Westminster, Isabel Guerin had 12 points and Ashlyn Landry had 12 rebounds. Claire Rivet also contributed 5 assists.

  Catholic-PC was on the road again on Wednesday, Feb. 5, to play St. Joseph-Plaucheville (5-C) in a non-district contest. The Lady Hornets need one more win to set a school record for most wins in a season.

  District 5-1A play resumes on Friday, Feb. 7, when the Lady Hornets host St. Edmund.

  Livonia also is looking for its first district win after a 45-34 loss to Breaux Bridge on Feb. 4.

  The Lady Wildcats are 0-5, 6-11.

  Livonia fell to Cecilia in a 6-4A game on Friday, Jan. 31.

  Livonia will be on the road on Friday, Feb. 7, at Beau Chene in a 6-4A matchup.

  False River wrapped up district play with a 55-17 win over Thrive Academy on Tuesday, Feb. 4.

  False River is 2-2 in 6-1A and 3-16 overall.
