The Jr. NBA Skills Challenge is coming to Pointe Coupee Parish, looking for boys and girls ages 13 and younger who want to test their basketball skills. The local challenge will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 18, at Rosenwald Elementary, hosted by the New Roads Volunteer Fire Department and City of New Roads Recreation Department.

The Jr. NBA Skills Challenge provides boys and girls the opportunity to showcase their fitness through a dribbling, shooting, and rebounding skills competition. The program is free for all participants. Boys and girls compete separately in two age groups: 11-under and 13-under. For information, call (225) 718-3237.

First-, second- and third-place finishers in each age group will advance to the regional competition to be held between Feb. 16 and April 26.

The regional champions in each age group will advance to the National Finals on June 23-June 26 in New York City.

Finalists win an all−expense paid trip to New York City, will receive gift bags, attend special events, interact with NBA, WNBA and G−League players and attend the 2020 NBA Draft.
