Marjorie DeRogers Martin, devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt passed away peacefully at Lakeview Manor Nursing Home, New Roads, Louisiana. On December 17,2023. Marjorie was born to Philip and Mary Edith DeRogers on February 12,1935. She was a native of Mix, Louisiana and a resident of New Roads Louisiana. Marjorie graduated from New Roads High School in New Roads, Louisiana. She retired as a nurse’s assistant with Pointe Coupee Home Health with over 25 years of service. Marjorie was united in Holy Matrimony to Louis Thomas Martin, Sr., and to this union three children were born. Marjorie was a faithful and lifelong member of St. Augustine Catholic Church. She was a member of The Knights of Peter Claver Ladies Auxiliary Court #41 as well as a member of The Altar Society of St. Augustine Catholic Church, New Roads, Louisiana. She enjoyed dancing, listening to music and her favorite quote was “Tell it like it is”. Marjorie leaves to cherish her memory: three children: Beverly Martin, Quintin (Yvonne) Martin of Baton Rouge, Louisiana and Louis (Terry) Martin Jr., of Ventress, Louisiana. Three sisters Doris Dundy, Ann Volta of New Roads, Louisiana and Mary Ellen Norwood of Ventress, Louisiana; six grandchildren: Krystyna, Emmanuel, Ezekiel (Delicia) Keri (Kendrick), Deanna, Skylus; twelve great-grandchildren; Logan, Kennedi, D’Andrew, Paislei, Tyren, Tiana, Emery, Kaliyah, Kymyra, Emmanuel Jr., Taylor, Nigel and Emmaleigh; a sister-in-law: Corinne Martin Leufory of Cerritos, California, a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. Marjorie is preceded in death by her parents, Philip and Mary Edith Jacque DeRogers; her husband, Louis Thomas Martin Sr.; seven sisters and two brothers: Edna Smith, Hazel DeRogers, Eloise Brent, Agnes Gosserand, Mary Rose Celestine, Sadie Mae Gauthier and Catherine Spencer, Philip and Ferman DeRogers. Visitation will be held on January 3, 2024 at St. Augustine Catholic Church in New Roads, La. followed by a rosary at 10:30 a.m. and mass at 11:00 a.m. officiated by Reverend Joseph Benjamin SSI, pastor. Thank you sincerely for your kind and loving expressions of sympathy. Special thank you to Station A of the Lakeview Manor Nursing Home and Pointe Coupee Hospice for their great care of our Mother.
